Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse, an authentic southern Brazilian style restaurant recently opened (April 10) at 1108 S Dale Mabry Highway.

A new Brazilian style steakhouse is now open in South Tampa and upholds the traditional Southern Brazilian barbecue “churrascaria” dining experience- Gauchos (Southern Brazilian cowboys) roasting large pieces of skewered meats over an open flame.

Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse complements tradition with its full rodizio experience, which includes an unlimited variety of fire-roasted meats —beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and seafood, and a gourmet salad bar stocked with fresh vegetables, cured meats and cheeses, authentic Brazilian hot sides and more.

All of the meats are prepared, butchered, seasoned, and served tableside by the chefs or “gauchos”, who are all originally from Brazil.

Guests can try the entire menu, which offers more than 45 items, and control both their service and pacing of the meats with a red or green coaster.

Terra Gaucha also imports ingredients directly from Brazil like the rock sea salt traditionally used to season the meats, its rice, the flour used to make their cheese bread, and hearts of palm, which is the edible center of a palm tree.

This location opened April 10th and has been a big hit on the weekends according to operating manager Roldolfo Melo.

Jacksonville was the restaurant’s first location and Melo says they hope to expand in the near future.

Prices vary for lunch and dinner starting at $15.95 and increasing to $26.95 for the full rodizio experience, and starting at $24.95 for dinner and up to $42.95 for the full rodizio experience.

Terra Gaucha operates for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, and for dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 4 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
